The Newburgh Police Department received a shot spotter alert of a single round fired in the area of Ann Street. Upon arriving in the vicinity of Washington St/Federal Street, police officers secured the area and located a butcher knife and a cell phone on the ground. Information received from witnesses indicated that the suspect had discarded the items in a wooded area near a cemetery on Federal Street. A canine officer conducted a search of the area.

A subject was brought to the emergency room of Montefiore-St Lukes Hospital with a gun shot and stabbing wound. The identity of the subject and the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently unknown and are being investigated by City/Newburgh detectives.
