'Secret Lives' solo exhibition opens May 20

Studio 89 in Highland welcomes an exhibit called “Secret Lives” featuring new paintings by Marsha Massih, an award-winning oil painter from the Hudson Valley. The exhibition will run from May 20 to July 30 at Studio 89, which is located near the Walkway over the Hudson.

Visitors can meet Massih at the opening reception on May 20th from 5 to 8 p.m. Massih’s paintings create sensual, textural interiors using vivid color and layers of varnish. Her work tells a story without a clear plot line, allowing viewers to interpret it for themselves. The exhibition features two groups of paintings, the “Red Room’’ series and the “Mask” series, which are inspired by Massih’s travels to Europe. Massih’s work has been noticed by set designers on the HULU series “Only Murders in the Building,” and a painting has been purchased by HULU for the show’s third season.

The exhibition is being hosted by Studio 89, a female-owned, artist-run gallery and experimental event space that supports emerging and mid-career artists.
