PB board to leave seat vacant

The Pine Bush Board of Education will have one vacant chair for an entire academic year.

The board has opted not to replace former board member Tasha T. Butler, who was elected in May and resigned in August.

At least week’s Board of Education meeting, it was announced that the board had two options - appoint someone to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the school year or leave the seat vacant until the next school election in May of 2022. The board chose the later option, meaning the seat will not be filled until after the next election and a new board member is sworn in next July.

Butler noted that she resigned, as she was moving out of the Pine Bush school district. At the time of her resignation, Butler was in her first term on the board of education, which commenced on July 1.
