Paul Mader named Grand Marshal of Wallkill Parade

The Wallkill St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is happy to announce after two years of not having a parade, the 35th annual parade will be held Sunday, March 20, in the Hamlet of Wallkill.

The Committee is pleased to announce its Grand Marshal originally scheduled for the 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Parade, will be Wallkill resident Paul Mader.

Paul and his wife Dolores moved to Wallkill in 2009 and have four children and six grandchildren. He is retired as a District Captain, after having spent 40 years, in the US Postal Inspection Service Police. He is a life member of the VFW and the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).

After having moved to Wallkill, Paul became an active and supportive member of VOW (Vision of Wallkill). He is currently serving as its Vice President and has been the Chairman of WOW (Weekend of Wallkill) for the past six years and the Holiday Sparkle & Shine Contest. He was a member of the “Town Clock” committee.
For many years Paul has served as a Deacon and Elder at the Reformed Church of Shawangunk. He currently serves as Treasurer and Deacon as well. Within the church community he has held several positions on various committees serving the parishioners of the Reformed Church of Shawangunk.

He has been a member of the Wallkill American Legion for the past six years and has served as Treasurer and currently as First Vice Commander. In addition, he serves on the Town of Shawangunk Board of Assessment Review.

The Parade Committee will be honoring Paul Mader at a dinner to be held Friday, March 18 at the Nu-Cavu Restaurant in Wallkill. Time is 6:30 p.m. and the cost is $40 per person which includes a buffet dinner. There will be a cash bar. Reservations can be made by calling 845-913-5389 or 845-625-7877.
