Recently a ‘Leo Lions Club’ was established at the Marlboro High School with support from Superintendent Michael Rydell, Principal Ryan Lawler, the school Administration, School Board President Frank Milazzo, members of the Marlboro-Milton Lions Club and Lion District Governor Calixto J. Bulnes.
Kristen Becker was sworn in as a member of the Marlboro-Milton Lions Club and will serve as an advisor to the student Leo Club.
Lions Club President Jerry Wein addressed the new club members.
“We so welcome the youthful energy. If you have any questions please ask us and as per the cliché, there are no dumb questions. We’d like you to learn from us and we’d like to learn from you as well,” he said.
Stephen Jennison welcomed the new students into the Leo Club.
“On behalf of the officers and members I would like to welcome you to the Marlboro High School Leo Club. We invited you to become members and we are all happy and proud of your decision to accept,” he said. “Membership in the Leo Club is a privilege and you are about to enter a program that extends throughout the world. It began in 1967 as an official activity of Lion Club International. Leo’s goals include high moral standards, personal responsibility, an attitude of cheerfulness and understanding and in addition, lending a helping hand to those in need.”
Jennison pointed out to the new Leo members that “an entire series of challenges await. You are not alone in your efforts. At all times you can count on encouragement and cooperation from your Leo club members and advisors. They will be happy to help you achieve your goals that you have adopted. Once again, I express my congratulations in joining our Lions Club.”
Lion District Governor CJ Bulnes said each letter in Leo has a meaning: L is for leadership, pointing out that these new high school students, “are our next leaders, you are the future to lead this world.” E stands for experience, “and each one of you are bringing experience to this club and you will also receive a lot of experience. O stands for opportunity to serve your community.”
CJ Bulnes likened members of Leo to family.
“If you ever need help you talk to one of the Lions Club members or to me. We are here to help you all,” he said.
Brady Felker was named Treasurer, Jake Brown is the club’s Vice President, Victoria Ciaglia is the club’s President and Jason Oheto is the Club Secretary.
