Corcoran looks ahead to the next two years

In a special meeting marking the start of his second term, Scott Corcoran was sworn in as town supervisor for Marlborough on Wednesday night, January 3, along with four other town officials.

Corcoran and three of the others sworn in were all reelected to their town posts on November 7. Those reelected included Edward Molinelli and David Zambito, town councilmen and Dan Jackson, town justice. In addition, Gael Appler, Jr., was sworn in for a new term as deputy town supervisor, an appointed post.

Prior to the actual swearing-in, Corcoran praised both the members of the Town Board and the town’s work force. “It’s been a privilege to work with everyone on the Board and all our town employees over the past two years as we move our town forward in a positive way,” said Corcoran. “We do not always agree on everything, but we all have the same common goal, to make our town a better place to live.

“I cannot wait to see what we will be able to accomplish over the next two years,” he continued. “Congratulations to all our elected officials, and thank you for stepping up once again to serve another term in office for our community.”

The swearing-in ceremony was the first of three specially convened meetings that took place in succession that night. The other two meeting segments included the unanimous passage of 20 resolutions, the first of which established the Town Board’s meeting schedule for 2024. That resolution calls for regular meetings to take place at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month at Marlborough Town Hall. The exceptions would be when that Monday is a state or federal holiday, causing meetings to take place on the following Tuesday evening.

The other resolutions covered a diverse array of subjects including personal-vehicle reimbursement for town officials and employees, a fee schedule for town facilities, water and sewer rates and the composition of a variety of citizen-led town committees. Of note, in addition to Appler, one resolution approved the appointment of Tina Rosa as secretary to the town supervisor and Christina Wilklow as budget and fixed asset officer.
