Car crashes into bathrooms at Wallkill Senior High

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday evening, the Wallkill Fire Department, Wallkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Town of Shawangunk Police Department responded to a car crash at Wallkill Senior High School.

A car crashed into the restroom building near the football field, causing substantial damage. Wallkill Fire Chief Joe LoCicero confirmed that the driver lost control of the vehicle driving up the hill and subsequently crashed into the fence before hitting the restrooms.

Shawangunk Chief of Police Gerald Marlatt noted that the car contained two 18-year-old males. They suffered superficial wounds from the accident. One of the men was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center while the other was brought to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. As of Monday evening, the cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Shawangunk Police Department.

“Speed was definitely one of the factors,” Marlatt said.
