CAC to host tree recycling event

The Conservation Advisory Council (CAC) along with the Department of Public Works (DPW) of Newburgh are co-sponsoring a “Recycle Your Christmas Tree” event.

The CAC is encouraging the residents of Newburgh to recycle their Christmas trees rather than simply disposing of them.

Residents of Newburgh are invited to drop off their trees at the Newburgh Recreation Center, located at 401 Washington Street, near the Newburgh Armory Center, starting December 27 though January 8.

On Saturday morning, January 8, from 9 a.m. - noon, the DPW crew, will start to chip the Christmas Trees using chipper equipment, to mulch all the trees.

CAC Volunteers will be handing out, recyclable leaf bags, filled with Fresh Pine Chips.

The Pine Chips are great for their aroma (lasting smell) and for protecting tree and plant beds. Cover all of your trees and plants with fresh pine mulch.

On Jan. 8, free cider and doughnuts will be served from 9 a.m. to noon.
