The 74-year-old school bus driver whose Washingtonville district bus was hit head-on by a commercial tree service truck on Route 207 in New Windsor, has died. A post on a GoFundMe page established to raise funds for medical care for Andrew Sanchez stated that he passed away last week.

“After an embattled six weeks, our Dad left this world as he lived it, an unquestionable fighter,” the post read.

On the morning of October 21, police said the bus driven by Sanchez was struck by the tree service truck driven by 25-year-old Ian Jennings. Both men were hospitalized in critical condition. A little girl on the school bus was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police had reported.
