Blossom Street Fair returns to Milton

Posted

On Saturday April 23, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Blossom Street Fair returns once again to the hamlet of Milton. Hosted by the agricultural association Meet Me in Marlboro, Main Street will be lined with craft, farm and food vendors as well as music and dance along with kids’ activities and hayrides for all.

The theme of this year’s event is “Celebrating A New Agricultural Season.”

The Blossom Street Fair is a throwback to an earlier time in Marlborough. A headline in a May 1938 article in the Mid Hudson Post noted that a Gateway to Blossomland was erected South of the Marlborough Village near the border of Ulster and Orange counties. It went on to state that the gateway, “makes the most imposing appearance. Pink and green banners are visible far up and down the road. The gates are all in apple pink and green and measure some 16 ft long by 14 ft high.” The newspaper noted that 5,000 copies of a booklet telling the story of the fruit industry in the valley will be distributed free of charge to those attending the fair.

The rain date for this year’s Blossom Street Fair is April 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
