oin Laura Conner, Environmental Educator, for a scenic, loop hike to the iconic, 65 foot high, Awosting Falls. Starting on the High Peter's Kill Footpath, our route follows along the cliff edge above the Peter's Kill stream, where we'll hear the mesmerizing sound of Peter's Kill Falls below us. After crossing the Peter's Kill stream, we'll continue along this footpath, climbing up a steep hill to reach a nearly panoramic view of the Rondout Valley. Then, we'll continue along the Bullwheel Footpath to return to the Peter's Kill Area, we will break for lunch and use the restrooms. From there, we'll cross Route 44/55 onto the Awosting Falls Connector Footpath and then onto the Awosting Falls Carriage Road. We'll follow this wooded route all the way to the dramatic Awosting Falls, and then back to the parking area. The carriage roads are relatively easy walking; however, the footpaths do include some hills and tricky footing. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. All unvaccinated participants are encouraged to wear face coverings and keep a minimum six-foot distance away from others who are not part of their immediate household. Additionally, all unvaccinated visitors should wear a mask when inside buildings. Meet at the Lower Parking Area. Pre-registration is required by calling Minnewaska at 845-255-0752.
