Comedy Fundraiser to support families of officers battling cancer
The Blue Line Comedy fundraiser will take place on Friday, June 7, at the Turtle Creek Golf Course to support the families of two local police officers battling cancer. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m.

The event will feature performances by comedians Kevin Downey Jr., John Mulrooney, and Larry DiGregorio. An appetizer buffet will be available, and there will be a cash bar, raffles, and a 50/50 drawing.

Admission is $20, and all proceeds will go directly to the officers’ families. Tickets can be purchased by calling 845-863-7417 or emailing pobenjamin@plattekillpd.org.

The Turtle Creek Golf Course is located at 219 Plattekill Ardonia Rd., Wallkill.

Modena Fire & Rescue to Host Car Show
Modena Fire & Rescue and the Ladies Auxiliary will host the Butch Corretty Memorial Car Show and Craft Fair on June 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at Thomas Felten Park in Modena.

The annual car show, named in honor of Butch Corretty, will feature a variety of classic and custom cars. In addition to the car displays, the event will include a craft fair, offering visitors an opportunity to purchase handmade goods from local artisans.

Upcoming Events at Plattekill Library

The Plattekill Public Library is gearing up for a summer full of exciting events for the community. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Summer Reading Program Kickoff The Summer Reading Program at the Plattekill Public Library will launch with an exciting and unique storytelling show called StoryFaces. In this event, volunteers are brought on stage and face painted to illustrate stories as Christopher tells them, captivating the audience with folktales and his animated original stories. Attendees can enjoy a free ice cream sundae and receive a book. The kickoff event is scheduled for Thursday, June 20, at 6 p.m. at the Plattekill Public Library. Book Sale. The Friends of the Plattekill Public Library will host a Book Sale on Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale will be held in the community room below the Plattekill Public Library, located at 2047 State Route 32, Modena, NY 12548.

Water Safety Education Program On Thursday, June 27, Wings Over Water will present a fun, interactive water safety program for all ages. The program will include a Safety Smart video featuring Timon and Pumba, a dry land swim lesson covering the basics of breathing, buoyancy, shapes/postures, and safety, a “Simon Sez” coloring book, a Swim Safety Certificate for each student, and a Family Swim Day Pass to practice swimming together. Free Zumba Classes The library will offer free Zumba classes on Sundays at 8:30 a.m. Zumba is a fun, energizing Latin-inspired dance workout. Participants are encouraged to bring sneakers and a friend. Registration is available online at Plattekill Library Events.

Storytime Miss Melissa will host Storytime on Thursdays at 11 a.m., where children can socialize, play, sing, listen to stories, and get creative with crafts. This event aims to spark children’s imagination and help develop early literacy skills. Registration can be completed online at Plattekill Library Events.

Come join the Plattekill Golden Seniors for food and fun!
There is also an opportunity to make different crafts with Mary on various Mondays during the year. We’ve already done glass etching; next, is wreath making in June and alter tin cans by decoupaging in July. Pre-registration is helpful as there’s a limit of 12; cost is $5 per person per class.

In July and August we will be traveling by bus to Riverview Inn in Matamoras, Pennsylvania for lunch and a show. Fee is $50 for members; $55 for nonmembers. We will also be having a picnic at the Thomas Felten Community Park in August.

Plattekill Golden Seniors meet the 1st Thursday of each month at 1pm and on the 3rd Thursday at 12noon for lunch. We meet in the Community Room beneath the Plattekill Public Library. Come on out and join us.

Membership is open to those 55 and older.

Highland Library hosts Butterfly Gardening workshop

Help increase the numbers of these graceful beauties by creating a Butterfly Garden!
The workshop, led by Jessica Williams, takes place at the Highland Public Library on Saturday, June 8, 1 - 2 p.m.

Even a tiny space can benefit the declining populations and you’ll be rewarded with a chance to watch their fascinating life cycle unfold before your eyes. Learn about the native plants and colorful annuals that they love as well as gardening techniques that help support them throughout the seasons. We’ll make decorative terracotta saucer “puddles” to support the mineral requirements of your butterflies to enhance your garden!

Modena Fire Department to Host Chicken BBQ Dinner Fundraiser
The Modena Fire Department will host a Chicken BBQ Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, June 15, to support its operations. The event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at the fire station located at 1953 State Route 44-55 in Modena.

The $20 meal includes chicken, corn, potato, salad, and dessert. Meals are available for pick-up or delivery.

Pick your meal at Lloyd UMC

On June 15, you will have the choice of enjoying a Pulled Pork or Pulled Chicken dinner at the Lloyd United Methodist Church.

The meals prepared at the LUMC will include your preferred meat, plus baked beans, coleslaw and a roll.

You will also have to decide whether you wish to do a drive thru pick-up or eat at the limited number of tables in the church social hall. The meals will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $14 per dinner. Cash or check at pick-up.
