The Town of Lloyd announces a free Fall Shred Event on Saturday, October 28, from 9 am to 12 noon. This community-focused event provides an opportunity for residents to securely dispose of sensitive documents and contribute to environmental sustainability.

The shred event takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot behind Town Hall, 12 Church Street, Highland. The Fall Shred Event welcomes the community to bring documents and materials for secure disposal. Acceptable items for shredding at the event include paper (white or colored), file folders, checkbooks, staples, paper clips, and small quantities of plastics, including ID cards and credit cards.

However, certain items are not suitable for community shred events due to safety and environmental concerns. Unacceptable items include hard drives, backup tapes, X-rays, videos, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, hazardous materials, syringes or needles, and heavy metal objects like nuts, bolts, or metal plates. The Town of Lloyd emphasizes that mixing paper with items that can spark, such as batteries or heavy metals, poses safety risks and is discouraged.

The town suggests a limit of three garbage bags or three paper storage boxes (approximately the size of standard copy paper boxes) per person. The community’s cooperation in adhering to this limit is greatly appreciated.
