Summer concerts will return to the park

The Town of Marlborough Recreation Committee will host its Summer Concert Series in the Park throughout July at Cluett Schantz Memorial Park, featuring live music, themed nights, food vendors and family activities.

The concert lineup includes “A Night at Kellerman’s” on July 10 with The Big Blue Big Band performing Dirty Dancing-inspired music; Country Night on July 17 featuring Jennie Angel and the Outlaws and Carrie Zazz Band; “Rock of Ages” on July 24 with Tax Evasion and Flirtin’ with Disaster; and the Marlborough Music Showcase on July 31 featuring Low Noon, The Boroughs and The Bloody Shame.

The park opens at 5:30 p.m. and music begins at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Fireworks will follow the July 31 concert.

The Recreation Committee is also accepting submissions for its 2026 Summer Concert in the Park T-shirt Design Contest. The contest theme celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States and the spirit of Marlborough’s summer concerts. Entries will be accepted June 1-20 and must be submitted as vector files to TOMRecreation@marlboroughny.us. AI-generated designs are prohibited.

School News

Students at Marlboro Elementary School honored Memorial Day during a special assembly May 22. Students performed patriotic songs including “This Land is Your Land” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag” for classmates, staff and special guests Tom Shroeder, Lorraine Palermo and Lenny Vazquez.

The Marlboro Central School District Board of Education awarded tenure to several faculty and staff members during its May 21 meeting.

At Marlboro Elementary School, tenure recipients included Sarah Amodeo, Karen Cantone, Jessica Crispo, Jeanna Martin, Breanna McEwen, Ruba Nesheiwat, Ana Olympia, Natalie Pascale, Emily Rider, Jena Thomas and Michele Truncali.

At Marlboro Middle School, recipients included Kathleen Arrotta, Chloe DeNatale, Kathleen McGee and Carolyn Roeder.

At Marlboro High School, Catherine Alfonso, Kristen Becker and John McLoughlin received tenure.

Library News
The Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library will host “Friday Inspirations: Paint Your Own Birdhouse” on Friday, June 12, from 2-3:30 p.m. in the community room. Local artist Laura Leigh will lead the workshop.
The library’s Book Lovers Club will discuss Isabel Allende’s “The Wind Knows My Name” on Thursday, June 18, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the community room.

The Marlboro Free Library will host “America: Songs of Patriotism, Praise & Protest,” a cello concert by Alex Prizgintas, on Tuesday, June 30, from 6-7 p.m. at the Milton Train Station, 41 Dock Road, Milton. The performance will feature patriotic hymns, anthems and songs of solidarity. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Marlboro Library Book Club will meet Wednesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. to discuss “Tilt” by Emma Pattee. Due to construction, the meeting will be held offsite at a location to be announced.

The MFL Walking Club will meet on June 3 and 17 and July 1, 15 and 29 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Meeting locations will be posted on the Marlboro Library e-calendar one week before each session.

Town News and Events
The Town of Marlborough Water Department will begin hydrant flushing June 8, a process expected to take approximately two to three weeks. Residents are advised to check for water discoloration before use and run cold water briefly if discoloration occurs. For more information, call 845-795-5100, Ext. 5, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays.

The Historical Society will host a presentation on the Declaration of Independence featuring speaker Paul Ellkis on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at the Milton Train Station.

Senior Fellowship Suppers will be held from 3-5 p.m. June 14 at Christ Episcopal Church, Route 9W and Old Post Road, Marlboro. Reservations are required by calling 845-236-6000.

The First Presbyterian Church of Marlboro will host a Community Yard Sale on Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 55 Grand St., Marlboro. Vendor spaces are available for $20. For information, email event@marlboropresbyterian.org or call Abby at 845-527-2961.
