Hello, everyone! I hope you are enjoying these beautiful summer days.

The Summer Concert Series continues at Cluett Schantz Memorial Park on Route 9W in Milton.

On July 24, enjoy Rock of Ages, featuring classic rock vibes with Tax Evasion and Flirtin’ with Disaster.

Then, on July 31, the Marlborough Music Showcase will celebrate amazing local talent featuring Low Noon, The Boroughs and The Bloody Shame.

The park opens at 5:30 p.m. and the music starts at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and there will be fireworks on July 31.

Bring your lawn chairs, friends and dancing shoes for a wonderful evening in the park!

A note from St. Mary’s Church
The parish office is now located in the small house across from the hall. The days and times the office will be staffed for the rest of July will be limited, so please call or email before stopping by.

Phone calls and email are checked daily, and someone will get back to you. The rectory phone numbers are 845-236-4340 and 845-393-5005. The email address is stmarysmarlboro@gmail.com.

“Unearth a Story”
The Marlboro Free Library is holding its “Unearth a Story” Adult Summer Reading Challenge through Sept. 4.
From July 6 through Sept. 4, adults 18 and older can download or pick up a “Gems of Summer” reading log and keep track of the minutes spent reading this summer. For every three hours of reading, participants can choose a prize from the Adult Treasure Chest. Redeem prizes as you go or save up to pick more prizes at the end of summer. Finish a sheet? Grab another and keep reading!

The “Gems of Summer” reading log can be downloaded at Marlborolibrary.org.

As construction continues at the library, most youth programs will be held at the Town of Marlborough Community Center, located at 1520 Route 9W in Marlboro.

Registration is required for select programs. Registration will open three weeks before the program date. To register, visit the online event calendar at Marlborolibrary.org, click on the title of the program, select “view more” and follow the prompts.

Be sure to follow the library on social media for updates and news.

Weekly Recipe
This week’s recipe comes from Jeanne F. It sounds like a wonderful summer dessert, especially with fresh blueberries!
Blueberry crumb pound cake
Jeanne F
FOR THE FILLING
2 8 - ounce blocks of regular cream cheese
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 lg egg
FOR THE CAKE:
3 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c (1 stick) softened unsalted butter.
1 c granulated sugar
4 lg eggs
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 c sour cream
1 pt fresh blueberries
FOR THE CRUMB TOPPING:
3 Tbsp cold butter
1/4 c all-purpose flour
1/4 c granulated sugar
Grease a 9 x 13 pan and pre-heat oven to 350. For the filling, beat together cream cheese and sugar.
Once creamed, add vanilla and egg. Set aside.
For the cake, in another bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Add the flour mixture alternately with the sour cream into the wet batter until well blended. Pour half the batter into a well-greased 9x13 pan. Spread the cream cheese filling over the batter. Place about a pint of blueberries over the cream cheese mixture. Cover the cream cheese layer with remaining batter. For the crumb topping, combine cold butter, flour and sugar until the mixture looks like small peas. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the top of the cake. Bake in a 350 oven for 55- 60 minutes. Test in center with toothpick. DO NOT LET THE TOP GET BROWN! Let cool, cut, and enjoy.
