Memories to last a lifetime at Cooperstown

Posted

The Marlboro Marlins 12U recently returned home from Cooperstown Dreams Park with memories that will last far longer than the final scores on the scoreboard.

After a year of practices, games, preparation and fundraising, the Marlins had the opportunity to experience one of youth baseball’s most celebrated traditions: a week at Cooperstown Dreams Park surrounded by teammates, coaches, families and the game they love.

The Marlins competed against teams from across the country, earning one tournament victory while facing challenging competition throughout the week. But for the players and coaches, the experience was about much more than their win-loss record.

It was about waking up with teammates in the bunks, walking through the park together, trading pins, playing wiffle ball, watching other teams compete and spending an entire week immersed in baseball.
The moments between games were just as meaningful as those on the field.

The players laughed, competed, celebrated and supported one another throughout the week. They experienced the highs and challenges of tournament baseball together while strengthening friendships and creating memories that will extend well beyond their time on the diamond.

Marlins Manager Kevin Beck reflected on the experience.

“The Cooperstown Dreams Park experience is something these boys will carry with them for a very long time,” Beck said. “Coach Adam, Coach Ray and I wanted to be competitive and give our best throughout the tournament, but we also knew this week was about so much more than baseball. It was about the memories made with teammates — living together in the bunks, trading pins, playing wiffle ball, watching other teams compete and simply being surrounded by America’s greatest pastime.

“As coaches, we were incredibly proud to be part of an experience that brought these boys together and created memories they may carry with them for a lifetime.”

The journey to Cooperstown was made possible by an entire community that supported the Marlins throughout the past year.
The families of the 12U players expressed their gratitude to everyone who supported the team through fundraisers, sponsorships, social media, game attendance and countless other acts of encouragement.

“From the very beginning, you showed up for us — supporting our fundraisers, cheering us on, sharing our posts and believing in our kids,” the families said. “And then this past week in Cooperstown, we felt that support in a way we will never forget.”

That support followed the team to Cooperstown.

Whether they were standing along the sidelines, watching from home, sending messages or simply rooting for the Marlins, family, friends and community members made sure the players knew they had people behind them.

For a group of 12-year-old boys, that sense of community made the experience even more meaningful.

The Marlins’ Cooperstown journey was also a reminder that youth sports are about more than the results of a game. They are about teamwork, friendship, perseverance and community, while giving young athletes an opportunity to create lasting memories with the people beside them.

“Cooperstown was about so much more than baseball,” the families said. “It was about friendships, teamwork, being part of something bigger than yourself and giving these boys an experience they will carry with them forever.”

The 2026 season may now be over, but the memories of Cooperstown will live on for the Marlboro Marlins 12U players.

The games will eventually become stories and the scores will fade. But the friendships, laughter, late nights in the bunks, pin trading, cheers from the sidelines and feeling of being part of something bigger will remain.

For the Marlboro Marlins, Cooperstown 2026 was a week they will never forget.
