Last week, Lloyd Supervisor Dave Plavchak presented Shelly Collins, owner of Hair Craft Salon, with a trophy to acknowledge her Holiday Window Display as the best in town for this holiday season.

Plavchak said the first Annual Window Decoration contest was sponsored through a partnership of the Highland Business Association and the Town of Lloyd Beautification Committee. He thanked all of the businesses in the hamlet that participated – Sal’s Place, Studio 89, Integrity Mechanical, the Kiltmaker’s Apprentice, Fox Insurance, Hello Dolly Real Estate and Henneberry Reserve.

“They all had outstanding decorations, and their efforts have continued to help turn our business area into a winter wonderland,” he said. “It’s really enchanting to residents and visitors alike.”

Plavchak said Hair Craft’s window display, “has been described by the community as lovely, classy and beautiful. It captured the essence of the holiday spirit of our town. Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, so congratulations to Shelly Collins and her team and a big thank you to all the local businesses for making the Highland window display contest a resounding success. Your contributions have made our town more joyful and beautiful through the holiday season.”

Plavchak noted that the Town of Lloyd recently received a ‘Building Bridges Award’ from the Hudson Valley Regional Council, “for demonstrating a significant commitment to collaboration and partnership in the Mid-Hudson Region.” This pertains to the Hudson 7 group that focuses on protecting the Hudson River as a source of drinking water for more than 100,000 people. The Council consists of elected officials from the City and Town of Poughkeepsie, the Village and Town of Rhinebeck and the towns of Esopus, Hyde Park and Lloyd.
