After a brief delay due to heavy rains, the town of Lloyd celebrated its 21st annual “Easter in the Hamlet” event, held in the scenic town field behind Highland Middle School. The festivities, originally slated for March 23, were rescheduled and took place on the Saturday just before Easter.

The event kicked off at 10 a.m. as the Easter Bunny, alongside the Highland committee and the Highland High School Interact club, meticulously placed over 2,000 colorful eggs throughout the field, setting the stage for the eagerly anticipated egg hunt.

While the egg hunt was undeniably the highlight of the day, the field also hosted three engaging activity booths tailored for the enjoyment of the attending children. These booths included a creative station where youngsters crafted potted plants, another where they designed personalized Easter cards for loved ones, and a thrilling golden ticket booth. Among the myriad eggs scattered across the field, a select few concealed golden tickets, promising fortunate discoverers a lavish candy-filled basket upon presentation at the golden ticket booth.

The influx of excited children slightly delayed proceedings, with the egg hunt officially commencing around 10:10 a.m. The air was charged with anticipation as a collective countdown echoed through the crowd, punctuated by the gleeful chatter of children and the clicking of cameras wielded by eager parents. With the countdown reaching its crescendo, a wave of excitement surged as children dashed onto the field in a spirited quest for Easter treasures. In a whirlwind of activity, the field was swiftly transformed from a vibrant sea of multicolored eggs to a scene of jubilant triumph as youngsters proudly brandished their bounties.

The event, a longstanding tradition cherished by the community, once again succeeded in fostering a sense of camaraderie and joy among attendees of all ages. As families dispersed, clutching their prized eggs and cherished memories, organizers reflected on yet another successful celebration of Easter in the heart of Lloyd.
