Last month, students in the PREP class at Marlboro High School worked with Speech-Language Pathologist Vincent Ferrara to make handmade winter-scented soaps. The students then sold their delightfully smelling creations (in Candy Apple and Winter Pine!) to faculty and staff to raise money for their class. Well done!

Exciting news! Marlboro High School students Lex Antonelli (Grade 12), Amanda Kunkel (Grade 12), Jacqueline Rivera (Grade 11), and Janice Werba (Grade 11) have advanced to the regional level of this year’s National PTA Reflections Program. Lex’s winning entry was a photograph titled “The Tide Always Turns,” while Jacqueline won in the visual arts category for her piece, “Tears of Hope.” Amanda’s winning photo was titled “Eager Sunrise,” and Janice won for her poem titled “I Am Hopeful Because.”

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program that provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. This year’s theme was “I Am Hopeful Because…”

These four students were honored during a Board of Education meeting on January 4. Congratulations, and best of luck in the next round!

Kudos to our hard-working Students of the Month for December, who were honored during a Board of Education meeting last month. They are Juliana Juras from Marlboro High School, Jordan King from Marlboro Elementary School, and Zenobia Chambers from Marlboro Elementary School.

St. Mary’s Church
Last weekend during the snowstorm, someone parked their car in the parking lot right next to the church. It makes it very difficult to plow that parking lot. If you need a place to park during a snowstorm, please call the rectory 845-236-4340. We will tell you where you would be able to park. Thank you.

Easy Fruit Cobbler
Foolproof fruit cobbler recipe is guaranteed to be a success. Serve warm with a big scoop of ice cream for the ultimate Southern treat!
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter one stick
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
15 oz can fruit in light syrup or juice approximately 12 oz of any other fruit, do not drain.

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Place butter into a 9 X 9 pan and place pan into oven as it preheats. This melts the butter and lubes up the pan to prevent the cobbler from sticking. 3.

Mix the flour, sugar, and milk. 4. Once the butter is melted, and the oven preheated, pour the flour/sugar/milk mixture into the pan. 5. Add the can of undrained fruit, pie filling, or other fruit on top of the mixture.6. Add extra sugar or cinnamon-sugar to the top if desired and place into oven.

Bake approximately 30 to 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the biscuit is cooked through. Baking time will depend on the fruit used and if it is frozen or not. Start checking after 30 minutes.

Notes: If using frozen fruit, it does not need to be thawed first. Double the ingredients if using a 9 X 13 pan. Spreading the fruit out over the top will provide more fruit in the edge pieces than the middle, especially when doubling the recipe.

If you do not have self-rising flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of all-purpose flour.

Happy Birthday Kenneth Hyland, Kathleen Ward, Gianna Barbero, Juliette Barbero, Lauren Card, Lillian Jane Broder, Diane Attichison, Terry Mannese and Betty Ann Ferrara.
