Lloyd Supervisor Dave Plavchak gave a progress report on the work being done at the Tillson/Toc/Vineyard intersection.
“They completed the paving last week from #2 Tillson, which is the next to the last house on the west side, all the way to Route 9W. They now have to fill in the remaining sidewalks and do the dirt and grass planting,” he said. “They are fixing the driveways and prepping for the remaining sidewalks and also Central Hudson had to fix a gas elevation issue they had.”
Plavchak noted that forms for the stud walls at the culvert at the bottom were poured, “which is a five to seven day cure and then they can prep to put the pre-cast on, which would mean the piers for the [roadway] bridge would then be set.”
Plavchak said the project is still on schedule and as per the Department of Transportation, “we have to open Vineyard Avenue on December 1 and Tillson/Toc, as they finish the structure piece up to connect will be a few weeks later.”
Town receives grant for generator
Plavchak said the town has received $383,500 through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Hazard Mitigation Program Grant [FEMA HMPG] that will be used to purchase a generator at the Hudson River Pump Station. This grant was compiled by the town’s consulting firm of Barton & Loguidice and another grant application has also been submitted for a second needed generator.
Plavchak said this particular grant was submitted to FEMA in June 2022 along with two others. He said to be eligible, the town had to agree to be part of the Hazard Mitigation Plan for Ulster County this year, which involved assistance from Councilman John Fraino, Highway Superintendent Richard Klotz and Building Department Director Dave Barton.
Plavchak said FEMA has also asked the town for more information concerning the town’s request to bury the power and telephone lines underground in the hamlet.
“Now we’re waiting to get final disposition on the last two,” he said.
