The Immigration Act of 1891 established the Office of Immigration to administer immigration affairs. It also appropriated money to build a new immigrant inspection station on Ellis Island. Almost 12 million immigrants were processed through the immigration station on Ellis Island between 1892 and 1954 when the station closed. In 1921 the Emergency Quota Act ended U.S’s open door immigration policy. It was followed in 1924 with an even more restrictive Immigration Act.

Since President Biden took office when he “re-imagined” immigration policies, at the current rate its estimated that 13 million migrants will have entered the U.S. during a 4-year Biden administration, a million more migrants than had entered the country during the 62 years Ellis Island was active.

In 2023 the Biden administration implemented an app, “CBP One,” to facilitate processing of migrants. Parole is another tool available under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) that allows certain individuals to enter the U.S. and temporarily stay without an immigrant or non-immigrant visa. It is a discretionary measure assessed by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on a case-by-case basis but President Biden’s interpretation has grossly applied it to thousands at a time.  It is estimated that over 300,000 migrants have been flown into the United States. A Congressional Report released last November estimated the cost of all the migrants to U.S. taxpayers a $450 billion. An estimate for the border wall that Trump was building was $21 billion.  Cheap in comparison.

Who’s looking out for the American taxpayer?
