The Ulster BOCES Adult Career Education Center is now enrolling for its year-long Barbering for New York State Licensing course, which begins on Monday, January 23 and runs into December 2023.

This field is an excellent career choice, since barbers enjoy great flexibility and often have a fast track record of advancing from employee to employer. For anyone looking for a well-paying career in the field, this exciting course may be just the answer to jumpstart your journey. Students will receive 500 hours of top-of-the-line classroom instruction and hands-on lab work to prepare them to take the New York State licensing exam, without the need for completing an apprenticeship. It is a great way to fast-track into the booming barbering industry with the potential for self-employment.

Tuition is $4,749, plus a kit and textbook fee. Classes will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 3:30-8:30 PM at the Ulster BOCES Adult Career Education Center in Port Ewen.
