You can support the library and become a Friend of the Highland Library today! 
The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising public awareness of library related matters, promoting use of the library and supplementing library services by expanding programming and activities. We provide funding for special programs, summer reading program, museum passes, crafts and other needs chosen by the library staff. 
In these times of COVID-19, we are in need of your support now more than ever!  Please consider sending a donation today!

Is your child interested in learning a skill for one of today’s in-demand careers? Then mark your calendars for Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center’s virtual Parent/Student Information Night on Thursday, February 25. There are two sessions at 5 and 6 p.m.  
Parents and Grade 10 students who are interested in the two-year career training programs or Grade 11 students interested in the Pre-University/New Visions Career Exploration programs should visit www.ulsterboces.org/recruit21 to access Zoom links to join the information sessions.  
Ulster BOCES offers 21st-century career and technical education programming. Students can enter into a skilled trade program that prepares them for an entry-level job, college, or both. Earn college credits while in high school in many of the programs. Among the 25 different career areas that students can take are Animal Science, Auto Technology, Cosmetology, Electrical Construction and Maintenance, Robotics, Music Production, Aviation, Nurse Assistant, and many more. Hope to see you there. 
 
Due to the rise in Covid cases in Ulster County, our library procedures have changed to keep you safe.  An appointment is required. Please contact the library if you have questions or need to make a service appointment at 845-691-2275. Staff will be available to answer calls MWF 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.,  T, Th noon - 7 p.m. and Sat. 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. 
Masks must be worn at all times. Please enter through the lobby and exit through the rear exit. 
 
Join Painting with April on Saturday, February 27 from 3 - 4 p.m. 
A fun, hour-long family-friendly painting session. Suggested for children ages 6 or 8 and up. This online event is limited to 12 screens. This means that your entire family can participate under 1 screen registration.  
Supplies List: 
• 8 x 10 Canvas 
• Primary Color Acrylic Paints 
• 1 Flat square and 1/2 inch or three-quarter inch round 
The library will provide limited supplies of paint, 8”x10” canvas and brushes. Please call the library to make arrangements for pickup at 845-691-2275. 
 
For all Curbside Crafts: Crafts need to be picked up within the week of the craft.  Pictures of crafts made are encouraged. Please call the library at 845-691-2275 and schedule a pickup time 
 
Curbside : Create a Fox Card 
Create a fox card. Registration is required. Fox card kits are available through our curbside service and available until Saturday, February 27. Kits are limited to 15 and registration is required. New to the craft kits are a book that will go with the subject of the craft. The book needs to be returned within 3 weeks from when you checked it out. 

Curbside: Library Lovers Coloring Page Kit 
Registration is required. Kits are available to be picked up through our curbside service all week long until Saturday Feb. 27th. There are only 15 kits available for the week.

The event has two sessions at 5 and 6 p.m. (one program per session). During this virtual event, students and parents will be able to visit up to two programs (one per session), meet with school counselors and instructors, and learn about the classrooms and work labs related to the student’s professional areas of interest. Courses for more than two-dozen fields of study are available to choose from in areas including animal science, information technology, healthcare, criminal justice, automotive, manufacturing technology, culinary, aviation and drone technology, and welding, to name a few.
Students who enroll in these programs graduate college- and are career-ready, with help from industry-experienced instructors who utilize hands-on training with state-of-the-art technology and equipment.
