Assisted Living Center hosts a holiday party

A holiday party was held recently at Valley Vista, an Adult Assisted Living Center in Highland. Administrator Theresa Daley said at a number of holiday events she invited singers to perform.

“The residents love it and to see them get up and dance is great. Some of our residents know the words to every song.”
Daley, who has worked at Valley Vista for four years, said they have about 90 percent of their 89 beds filled with residents, from 48 to 99, along with 30 full and part time staff.

“I love to see people as they age live independent lives; it is so refreshing to see,” she said. “The magic of Valley Vista is there are people with different personalities, different psychological needs, different physical needs and we make it work.”

Daley said owner Jerry Yang, “truly cares about the residents of this facility. He is wonderful, terrific and is truly engaged and will do anything for the residents.”

Jerry Yang bought Valley Vista in 2007 and has created a home-based community service style for the residents. He said being a director of a place like Valley Vista is not an easy job and not everyone can do it, “but it is a place where you complete something and the reward is that you are appreciated by the residents.”
