The Marlboro Central School District began accepting applications for its Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program on Monday, January 29. There are 89 tentative spots available for the 2024-2025 school year. Spots will once again be assigned using a random lottery process. The program is NOT first come, first served.

The UPK application period will be open through Friday, February 9. Applications will be available online at bit.ly/48mv9F1. Hard copies can also be picked up at the Marlboro Central School District (MCSD) office, which is located at 21 Milton Turnpike, on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Once an application has been submitted, applicants will have the option to download or pick up a registration packet. The registration packet deadline is Friday, February 16.

In order to be eligible for the UPK program, a child must reside within the MCSD and be four years old on or before December 1, 2024. Participating UPK providers include Little Friends Preschool, Pattycake Playhouse II, Stepping Stones, and Stepping Stones II. 

The following documents are required to register: a birth certificate; two proofs of residency (at least one primary and one supplementary), health and dental exams, including immunizations within the last calendar year; parent/guardian identification; IEP (if applicable); and custody/foster care documentation (if applicable).

The Board of Trustees of the Marlboro Free Library will hold their next regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, February 5, at 7 p.m., 1251 Rte 9W, Marlboro.  

Regular meetings are held in the Library’s Community Room at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of each month, unless it is a legal holiday, in which case the meeting will be held on the second Monday of the month.

The Plattekill Fire Department Auxiliary cordially invites the community to join them for an enchanting Valentine’s Day Dinner on February 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 50 Old Firehouse Rd.

Daughters of Sarah announces the upcoming Black History Month Celebration on Saturday, February 24, 5 - 8:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Fellowship Hall, 98 West Street, Marlboro.

The celebration will feature captivating performances by Voices of Unity from SUNY New Paltz, the dynamic PH.JC Praise Dancers, and the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. These groups will showcase the rich history and vibrant spirit of the African American community.

The celebration will also feature a Southern Food meal, including fried chicken, BBQ chicken, collard greens, mac’n’cheese, salads, cornbread, desserts, and more.

Admission is $20 per person, $15 for SUNY New Paltz students $10 for children aged 5-12 and free for children aged 4 and under.
