On November 17, the Newburgh Fire Department swiftly responded to a vehicle that veered off Pierces Road, near Williamsburg Drive, catching fire. Both occupants had managed to exit the vehicle before the authorities arrived on the scene. Firefighters, alongside the Police Department, took immediate action, deploying two lines to suppress the flames.

During the incident, the fire posed additional challenges when the vehicle’s gas tank ignited. The firefighters skillfully extinguished the ensuing blaze, ensuring the safety of all involved. Pierces Road was temporarily closed to traffic to facilitate the emergency response.

To access the vehicle’s trunk, firefighters utilized porta power equipment. Subsequently, the police called in a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the wooded area. Firefighters closely monitored the situation, providing support as the tow operator relocated the vehicle onto the pavement.

Throughout the operation, firefighters utilized a heat image camera to assess potential hazards, spraying water on the vehicle as it was being brought to the roadway. Newburgh Police are now investigating the cause of the incident.
