The Newburgh City Council, Monday, approved a resolution for the city manager to enter into an agreement with Orange County for Summer Youth Employment and Training Program for 2023. This program would offer employment opportunities for young adults in the city.

According to City Recreation Director Matthew Nordt, the city had applied for 12 grants to be used for youth programming. This was the most number of grants that the city had ever applied for. “We were awarded for all 12 of those. The sum total was $41,600,” said Nordt.

As of April 5, Nordt was proud to share that the city was able to acquire more funding for a grand total of $63,000 from the Orange County Youth Bureau. The city recreation department would typically only receive three grants for youth programming.
