Richard A. Lanigan, age 80, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.

He was born September 16, 1939, in the Bronx, NY to the late Francis Lanigan and Clara Lanigan-Roggendorf.
Richard was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. After graduating, he joined the United States Navy where he served his country proudly until his honorable discharge. He went on to marry his loving wife and partner of 57 years, Ann Marie Craft on August 18, 1962. “Nurse Annie”, as he called her, loved and cared for him throughout all stages of his life and health. Richard worked as a mechanic at the Central Hudson Power Plant in Newburgh, NY. He enjoyed spending his time as a Boy Scout troop leader, fishing, hunting, camping, collecting knives, and spending time with his loving family.

In addition to his wife Ann, he is survived by his children Doreen Crowther (Steve), Frank Lanigan (Simonne), and Catherine Duerr (James), his sister Carol Kessler, and his grandchildren Cory, Nicole, Alaina, Alexis, and Anna. Family, friends, and others whose lives Richard touched are invited to the Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh, NY, from 3 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020.
