Pamela S. LeVan Jinks of Newburgh, passed away Thursday November 9th, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 71.

The daughter of the late Joyous G. LeVan and Naomi A. George LeVan, Pam was born February 21, 1952 in Bloomsburg, PA, and resided in Riverside, PA.

Soon after graduation from the Danville H.S. (PA), Pamela enlisted in the U.S. Navy, honorable serving as a Yeoman from 1970-1974. Upon completion of a tour of duty stationed at The Naval Air Station, Lakehurst, NJ; she then, as part of the first contingent of ‘Waves’ assigned, was attached to the Naval Base, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where she met and married fellow shipmate Chris. After being discharged, Pam accompanied her husband overseas to Morocco. Returning to Riverside, PA for a brief period, the family then relocated to Montgomery, where Pam spent thirty-two years serving our Nation’s veterans, as a Health Administration Supervisor at the Castle Point, NY and Montrose, NY VA Hospitals. Downsizing in 2021, Pam & Chris moved into an apartment in Newburgh.

Pam had been an active participant in the Montgomery Little League Ladies Auxiliary and also taught CCD classes for St. Mary’s Church.  Many enjoyable years were spent with family and friends on their boat at the Cornwall Yacht Club. Pamela was a member of the American Legion since 1986.

Survivors include her husband Christopher W. Jinks at home; son Sean P. Jinks and his wife Lauren of Holbrook, L.I: their children Ryan and Twins Patrick and Colin; daughter Elizabeth L. Jinks and daughter McKenzie L. Zieran.  Additional Survivors include sisters: Kay Berry and her partner Carla Montez of Aurora, Co; Joyce Haney of Bloomsburg, PA; brother Bret LeVan and his wife Theresa of Washingtonville, PA; as well as many Nieces and Nephews.

Pamela was predeceased by her parents, her sister GeorgeAnn, her Brother-in-Laws Richard Berry and William Haney. 

Honoring her wishes, there will not be a viewing. Graveside services will be in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY at a future date.
