Newburgh woman charged with DWI

Posted

On Sunday, February 3rd 2019 at approximately 05:23 a.m., City of Newburgh police officers responded to an address on Benkard Ave for a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival officers separated the male and female party and during the investigation determined that no crime had been committed. The female party, identified as 23 year old City of Newburgh resident Odarly Rodriguez-Reyes, became upset and began to leave the area towards a motor vehicle. After getting into the vehicle and activating the ignition, the officers on scene attempted to stop her from driving away, as during the initial investigation she had appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle pulled away from the curb and she began to drive towards the officers, who were forced to jump out of the way to avoid being struck.

Officers then pursued the vehicle into Cornwall where the vehicle rear-ended another motor vehicle on Rt. 9W south of the hospital. Ms. Rodriguez-Reyes was then taken into custody and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The other motorist was also transported to the Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Rodrguez-Reyes was charged with Assault in the 2nd degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st and 2nd degree, D.W.I., and operating a motor vehicle without an license. She was held pending arraignment in City of Newburgh court on February 4th.
