Hello New Windsor. Since I was hired as Recreation Director for the Town of New Windsor over 16 years ago I have worked with some truly amazing people. And working so many years you develop relationships with these people more than just co-workers, more like family.
One of those people was former Town Councilwoman Patricia Mullarkey who was a Town Board member for 24 years. 15 of those 24 years came after I was hired. In fact she was one of the people responsible for my hiring. Town Supervisor George Green and then Building Inspector Mike Babcock had interviewed me first, then I had to interview with the Town Board who consisted of Pat, Alice Biasotti, Jack Finnegan, and Susan Weyant.
I will forever be grateful to all of those that hired me being I had to leave a dream job of running a baseball and softball training center because I had injured my throwing shoulder to the point that I had to have multiple surgeries. So finding the opening for New Windsor Recreation Director and then going through the interview process and getting the job will be something I never will forget. And I truly developed great relationships with all those responsible for my hiring and unfortunately two of them are no longer with us with Susan Weyant passing away in 2012, and George Green passing away in 2020. Pat will always hold a special place in my heart, and I was so happy for her when she was recently presented with the Lieutenant Commander Nicholas Brooks Award For Exceptional Community Service to the Town of New Windsor at our Memorial Day Ceremony.
Her many years of service to the Town of New Windsor and so many other organizations is a snapshot of what kind of woman she is, and I am proud to know her and call her a friend. Congratulations Pat!
