New Windsor considers Short-Term Rentals

Posted

The Town of New Windsor is moving toward adopting regulations for short-term rentals, with a public hearing expected in December.

The town currently has no code regulating short-term rentals. During an Oct. 5 Town Board workshop, officials said they have developed a working version of the proposed regulations and are seeking feedback from residents before moving forward.

One provision under consideration would require the property owner to live in the home being used as a short-term rental. Town officials said the requirement could help address concerns about large parties, parking and other impacts on residential neighborhoods.

The public hearing is expected in December to allow time for Orange County to review the proposal. Residents can also provide feedback to the town before the hearing.
