Lake Street bridge work approved

The Newburgh City Council, Monday, approved a resolution for the city manager to enter into an agreement with Hudson Valley Engineering Associates, P.C. at the cost of $107,611.49 for construction inspection services. The work would incorporate inspection of the Lake Street aka Route 32 Bridge.

City Engineer Jason Morris presented the following item at the city work session last Thursday to council.

“This is the Lake Street, Route 32 Bridge Project. As you may be aware the bridge project is generally complete. There is one additional catch basin that needs to be added on the east side that we’re waiting to get approval from DOT [Department of Transportation] on. That approval actually came through, and the contractor’s going to remobilize and install that catch basin,” said Morris.

The contractor will also look to repave the section of the bridge that requires work and thus will conclude the work on the project. Funds for this project would be provided from the New York State DOT Touring Route.
