Hudson Valley Gives raises $1.2 million and counting

The 11th annual Hudson Valley Gives event, held on Wednesday, May 20th wrapped up with over $1.2 million raised for over 250 charitable organizations in the Hudson Valley, and over 5,000 different donors. The event is a 24 hour day of online charitable giving hosted by the Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan, and Rockland counties to fundraise for organizations in the region. 2026 was the event’s most successful year to date, bringing the total that the initiative has raised over its lifespan to over $6.7 million.

CFOSR President and CEO Elizabeth Rowley said “Our community contributed and celebrated in record fashion this year to support local nonprofits, the enthusiasm and creativity that nonprofits embraced to raise donation levels was incredible.”

Several organizations based in the Newburgh area participated in the fundraising event, including Fearless Hudson Valley, the Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh, the Greater Newburgh Parks Conservancy and the SUNY Orange Foundation.

Fearless Hudson Valley has participated in Hudson Valley Gives since the event’s inception in 2015. This year the organization set a fundraising goal of $10,000, which it surpassed, raising over $12,000 and placing in 22nd place for the highest amount raised by a participating organization.

Kristen Carballo, marketing coordinator for Fearless, said “Things are getting a little bit more expensive for everyone, and that goes the same for nonprofits, the bottom line is that we’re all in this together and being able to fundraise like this is super important.”

Carballo said Hudson Valley Gives is helpful for the organization’s fundraising because “We’re able to connect with people that we don’t necessarily otherwise connect with through that community fundraising portion.” The organization also took full advantage of special features of the 24 hour fundraising period, like donation matches provided by sponsors of the event and smaller fundraisers created by organization supporters.

Carballo said “Hudson Valley Gives is a reminder that nonprofits can’t work in silos, and that ultimately we’re all on the same team of strengthening our Hudson Valley and supporting our communities.”

Though the main 24 hour giving period is over, donations are still open via the Hudson Valley Gives website through May 31st.
