Hudson Valley Beauty Lab opens on Liberty Street

City of Newburgh resident Randi Quick looks to create a comfortable, communal, inclusive and visibly appealing space through her business, Hudson Valley Beauty Lab & Medi Spa, located at 41 Liberty Street.

Quick is a lifetime resident of the City of Newburgh and is a registered nurse, dual certified in botox and fillers. Also listed on her website, Quick is a certified Microblading Brow Artist and Advanced Aesthetics and Anti-Aging Specialist.

Since opening her business on November 15, 2021, Quick said her time on Liberty St. has “been amazing” for her. “I love being here [in the City of Newburgh and on Liberty St],” Quick said.

Prior to becoming a brow artist and full time business owner, Quick was working as a registered nurse and she received her degree in nursing from Orange County Community College in 2015.

When she brought the idea to start a brow and beauty business to her family, they said she was crazy and she would be leaving behind benefits and time off for example. “Who leaves nursing to go do eyebrows,” Quick said jokingly.

Yet Quick said she would give it her all for a year and see where the business would take her. Since then, Quick shared she has been able to provide for herself and family and to help others through her work.

“I’ve never been happier than being in the beauty industry and helping women feel more beautiful, and men,” Quick said.

Previous to Quick operating her own business in the Liberty Street space, she operated out of the Wireworks Studios facility located on South William Street in the City of Newburgh.

She remembered that the space on Liberty St. was in shambles and vacant but she knew she wanted to operate out of there. Designing her business and brand, inclusivity and comfort was an important aspect for Quick.

Amanda Ordonez, who is from Middletown, currently works in the hospitality industry full-time and works part-time here at the spa. Ordonez said that she has known Quick for about two years now after connecting with her on Instagram.

She shared that when meeting Quick, she realized her and Quick were both very driven and had entrepreneurial spirits about them.
“We were just like-minded people,” Ordonez said. “She actually asked me to be her assistant so I said let me change my schedule around, I would love to and the rest is history.” Ordonez started working at the spa back in January 2022.

“I try to be positive every single day,” Quick said. “I just try to bring light and happiness to those around me as best as I can through my professional life and my relationships that I have established with so many of my clients.”

“I want every single person that comes in here to feel like they’re a center of attention,” Quick said. “My client relationships are one of the most important, if they’re not the most important, part of why I do what I do.”
