Safe Harbors Ann Street gallery presents Home Sweet Home: A Group Exhibition. Reception is Saturday, Jan. 26, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Home Sweet Home is an exhibition that explores domesticity and various perspectives on the domestication of the contemporary home. Themes covered in this exhibition consider not only traditional codes of domesticity, but alternative narratives and gender roles. The concept of home is a loaded topic invested with meanings, emotions, experiences and relationships. It is also a universal subject, to which most individuals can relate and includes the activities involved in the creation of domestic spaces; creating private or shared domains that afford us a sense of intimacy, comfort, sustenance, shelter, as well as places of fear and alienation.
The works on display in the exhibition reflect all facets of domestic spaces.

Viewers will find images of people who occupy these spaces; the personal possession or material objects of the home which are functional or purely decorative; paintings, sculptures, and installations that reflect domestic life and the related issues concerning the idea of a home.

The exhibition was curated by Virginia Walsh and will be on view through Saturday, March 23, 2019.
