Newburgh City Council approved the authorization to apply and accept, if awarded, two $10 million grants and approved a bond resolution for the financing of the Floatables Control and Disinfection Facility Project in the amount of $35,531,976.

The first grant, if awarded, would be a New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation Water Infrastructure Improvement Act Grant. According to City Engineer Jason Morris, in order to apply for this specific grant, the city council needed to approve the bond resolution that was presented. The second grant would be from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Water Quality Improvement Project Program.

Each of the approved resolutions would apply towards the Floatables Control and Disinfection Facility that is to be constructed and completed by the city at a later time.
