Gerard J. Di Silvestro, of the Town of Newburgh, formerly of Morristown, NJ, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. He was 95.

Son of the late Nickolas “Supro” and Edith “Ida” (Yasillo) Di Silvestro he was born on August 18, 1924 in New York, NY, and later moved to the Bronx.

 “Jerry” as he was known to family and friends was the former Director of Aviation  at Honeywell/Allied Signal from 1979 to 1986. He previously worked as a corporate pilot for Cornel-Dubilear, Arthur Godfrey, Alan Kirby, Phillip Morris, Forrest Oil, Texas Petroleum and Honeywell/Allied Signal.

In 1942 Jerry enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and shortly after receiving his commission became a WWII pilot. While proudly serving his country he was awarded the American Campaign and the WWII Victory Medals.

 “There was nothing Jerry loved more than his family and friends. He would light up a room with his love and wit. He maintained that until the very last moment. He will be missed terribly by his whole family. He did life right!”

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley (Ditter); two sons, John Di Silvestro of Coral Springs, FL and Steven Di Silvestro of Wallkill; two daughters, Geraldine (Jerry) Morley of Antioch, CA and Nancy (David) Surrency of Jacksonville. FL; one brother Nickolas M. Di Silvestro of Pompano Beach, FL; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey, Richard, Christopher, Kelly, Eric, Leah, Dean, Zachary and Megan (Brendan); numerous great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Di Silvestro and a sister Constance Yambert.

Private cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory.

Plans for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
