The Newburgh City Council has determined to lower the flag to half-mast at the City Water Department headquarters in honor of former City Water Superintendent John Platt, who passed away on April 18.

“The American flag at Water Department headquarters, 493 Little Britain Road, will remain lowered for the next five days in remembrance of Mr. Platt’s rich legacy of accomplishment that has continued to guide the department’s work,” read a written statement released by the city. “Our thoughts are with Mr. Platt’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”
