City launches ARPA funds priority ranking survey

The City of Newburgh is pleased to announce the launch of a new online survey to solicit input on how to spend a portion of the City’s allotment of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

ARPA is an ambitious initiative to stimulate the American economy, support residents, and curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus by providing some much-needed relief to City residents and businesses. ARPA specifically defines how the funding can be used and these funds can only be spent on projects that meet the specific requirements of the program.

This survey provides the community with two survey tools that allows the public to Prioritize Projects and Simulate the Budgeting Process to allocate these funds to projects that meet one of seven spending categories.

The simple Priority ranking Survey can be found at newburgh.abalancingact.com/arpa-funds-prioritization. City residents can use this survey tool which allows them to easily select the projects they believe would be the most impactful to the City, and rank their priority of those projects in an interactive and user-friendly experience.

Residents interested in a deeper dive into budgeting and prioritization, may find the Simulation tool at newburgh.abalancingact.com/arpa-funds-simulation This in-depth budgeting tool allows users to add and subtract funds from various projects while still meeting the budget cap from the Federal Government.

Both surveys are available through the City of Newburgh website and through the City’s Social Media channels.

The City expects the survey to be open through at least the end of April, 2022.
