Carolyn J. Smith, of Wallkill, died Wednesday, February 6, 2019. She was 90.

Daughter of the late Ira and Helen (Coleman) Tompkins, she was born in Clintondale, NY on December 8, 1928.

“Kay”, as her friends and family called her, was a seamstress for many years, working for Loring Coat Company in Newburgh. She was a member of the ILGW Union, Local 89, and was an avid bowler, having been inducted into the Newburgh Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame.

She is survived by her nephews, Arnold W. Terpening and his wife Barbara E. of New Paltz and Stuart C. Smith and his wife Nancy, of Wallkill; nieces Barbara A. Terpening of Highland and Carol Crawford and her husband John of Wallkill; two grand-nieces Kelli Lyn Nielson and her husband CJ, and Christina Schulter and her husband Thomas; two great-grand-nieces and one great-grand-nephew, and a cousin Kenneth Grimm of Wallkill.

Private cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Crematory. Burial at Lloyd Cemetery, Highland, will take place at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care of White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, Newburgh.
