Alfred J. Emigh

Alfred J. Emigh, a longtime Newburgh resident, entered into rest on Friday, March 27, 2020. He was 95.

Son of the late James Gaylord and Mary (Ellsworth) Emigh, he was born on November 13, 1924 in Danbury.

Alfred was a retired Principal Store Clerk for the Fishkill Correctional Facility. He also proudly served his country in the WWII Pacific Theater with the US Navy. Alfred was a Purple Heart recipient and took an Honor Flight #15 in 2017, to Washington DC.

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia (Derek) Sweetapple of PA; three sons, Dennis (Jill) Emigh, Plattekill, Gregory (Cheryl) Emigh of Wallkill and Gordon (Erika) Emigh of Wallkill; ten grandchildren, Derek, Jr., Christopher, Sean, Brendan, Kyle, Jimmy, Dennis, Jr., Trevor, Jennifer and Eric; five great grandchildren, Lillian, Alexa, Isabella, Lucy and Christopher; two, great great grandchildren, Sophia and Ashleigh; three stepchildren, Adela, Emily and Lesley; along with many nieces and nephews.

Alfred was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Frances Popular, in 1996, and his wife Martha Hurtado Meze in 2003; a brother Anthony Emigh and two sisters, Majorie Pilla and Evelyn Carey.

Private cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory.

Arrangements are under the care of White, Venuto and Morrill FCS, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY.
