Wreaths Across America

Cornwall’s Wreaths Across America will take place this year on December 19, at noon at the St. Thomas of Canterbury Cemetery in Cornwall.

The meaning and purpose of Wreaths Across America is not necessarily apparent or understood at first. I took this over from a good friend of mine, Lisa Favino, who started volunteering about seven years ago. When she decided to move, I asked to take over. Not being originally from this area, I managed this task for the love of my husband’s family. There are about 25-30 of his relatives, both military and non-military, buried at St. Thomas of Canterbury Cemetery, and we get to honor each of them who served. My own grandfather served in WW2 and while buried in another cemetery, I still feel like I have the opportunity to honor him through his fellow service members. Each year, my family, my trusted friend Andrea Merrill, and I fundraise, communicate, post information on social media, place stakes, and plan wreath day. This small task, that at times can feel overwhelming, pales in comparison to the sacrifices made by our military and their families each and every day! I am truly honored and humbled to be able to do what I can for our Veterans.”

This year we will once again honor those 401 veterans at St Thomas of Canterbury Cemetery, and we hope you will volunteer and sponsor a wreath. To all those friends near and far that donate, I appreciate all of you! Wreaths Across America would not be possible without the help of volunteers, active organizations, and the generosity of the transportation industry, which offer invaluable support to WAA’s mission.

How can you help? Volunteer to place wreaths on Saturday, December 19, 2026 and/or donate a wreath to a veteran. This year we will place approximately 401 wreaths on Veterans’ graves. We appreciate all of the volunteers and local social interest groups that help us out year after year!
