Remember all of those good, old-fashioned nursery rhymes? You know, favorites like ‘I’m a Little Tea Pot’, ‘Mary had a Little Lamb’, ‘Humpty Dumpty’, ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’ and Hickory, Dickery Dock? Well, if you don’t remember them, ask any Butterhill Day School UPK student from this recently-ended school year, they’ll be able to tell you all of them! As part of their closing ceremony on June 24, Director Helen Bunt and the UPK teachers led the students in an ‘enchanted’ celebration, featuring the performance of a dozen nursery rhymes. Why? Nursery rhymes are valuable to support early language and communication development, reciting them builds confidence and learning them prepares children for reading and writing as they get older. Good luck in kindergarten, kids!
