Charles E. “Charlie” Henry Jr., 86 of Wallkill, NY passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. He was born in Cornwall, New York, on November 8, 1939.

Charlie, affectionately known as “Junior” as a child, grew up helping on the family farm, where he spent many hours haying the fields and milking cows. He attended elementary and high school in Wallkill, where he met his future wife, Viola.

Throughout his working years, Charlie used his many talents in plumbing, heating, electrical work, and home construction. He also worked in the apple orchards near his home. He retired from SUNY New Paltz, where he worked as a plumber in the heat plant.

Charlie was dedicated to his community and enjoyed helping and working with young people. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster of Troop 76 and also coached Little League baseball.

One of Charlie’s greatest joys was playing Santa Claus for the community, a role he happily filled for 50 years. He brought smiles and Christmas cheer to countless children and families and was loved by many for his generous spirit.

Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time camping and enjoying the great outdoors.

Charlie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Viola, in 2025. He is survived by his son, Charlie “Chuck” Henry; his daughters, Sheila Yonta and Brenda Henry-Kirby; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild,

Charlie will be remembered for his hardworking nature, devotion to his family and community, love of the outdoors and the joy he brought to generations of children as Santa.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at New Hurley Reformed Cemetery, New Hurley Road, Wallkill, New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to New Paltz Rescue Squad, 74 North Putt Corners Road, New Paltz NY 12561; Modena Fire Department, P.O. Box 274, Modena, NY 12548; or Boy Scouts of America.
