Theres an upcoming election in the Village of Montgomery, and three trustees are running for seats: Darlene Andolsek, JoAnn Scheels and Randi Picarello.

Randi Picarello is a fresh candidate but not new to Montgomery, with things like the business council and a bakery under her belt as accomplishments. Picarello has long asssocciated herself with being a liaison between the board and the public, wanting to continue and expand her role this year. Picarello established the Village Preservation Committee, secured a $600,000 Community Benefit Agreement, is a TOMSTRONG Community Response Team board member, founded the Town Wide Small Business Saturday event, participates in thee Main Street Makers event, and more. She’s eager to learn from the board if elected.

Andolsek feels blessed to have always lived in the Village of Montgomery and being a Valley Central High School graduate. She has been a trustee since 2006 and feels like she has provided great events and services while keeping taxes stable in the village. She is a member of Holy Name of Mary-Assumption Parish, served on the Board of Commissioners for the Montgomery Fire District for 12 years and sits on the Montgomery Free Library board. She has raised five children in Montgomery and mentioned it would be an honor for her to serve the community for 4 more years.

Scheels has also been on the board for a long time, serving as deputy mayor for years. She ran more than thirty years ago and was born and raised in Montgomery. Scheels is the liason to the Town of Montgomery Ambulance Corps and takes on the Village Recreation Program. She also audits bills for the village, maintains the local park, and is working with fellow board members to provide and upgrade sidewalks in the village. She appreciates the confidence and trust that the Village Residents give her by electing her to the board.

The election will take place on March 21.
