The RNC is the governing body of the National Republican Party and runs the GOP political machine. Its primary focus is winning elections.

Apparently I underestimated the potential extent of Trump’s influential reach over the GOP. Recently he made it clear he wants a leadership change at the RNC ( Republican National Committee ). He wants current chairwoman Ronna McDaniel replaced by Michael Whatley , the North Carolina GOP chairman and a new co-chair, his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump. Whatley is a staunch Trump supporter and election denier. On the campaign trail Lara is Trump’s alter ego. It is obvious Trump wants to remake the RNC in “ his own image.”

If the party leaders accede to his wishes, there is no doubt Trump will have tight control over the GOP political apparatus and complete ownership of the Republican Party. Consequently the name should truly be changed to the TOP (Trump’s Own Party). The GOP (Grand Old Party) acronym would be undeniably inaccurate!
