Town meetings to be postponed for the remainder of the month

As of Friday at 1 p.m., the Town of Montgomery has declared a State of Emergency, related to the coronavirus, COVID-19 outbreak.

Town Supervisor Brian Maher had the announcement Friday afternoon, asking  all town residents to limit their trips to town hall, unless it is an emergency and to please call ahead of time, using email, fax, phone, mail "or other options to conduct any and all town business."

From March 13 - 27, most court, town meetings and all other gatherings at town hall will be postponed. Resiudents are asked to call 457-2600 for any specific inquiries.

The one exception to the ban on town meetings will be a special meeting of the town board on March 18 to discuss the proposed townwide building moratorium.

“In consultation with Planning Board Chairman Fred Reichle, the Town Board will be meeting next Wednesday March 18th for the purpose of keeping our Moratorium Public Hearing open to a later date," Maher said. "The Planning Board will be following suit with their public hearings in the month of March.  We have also discussed the Town Board scheduling our Moratorium Public Hearing on a date that will take place prior to Planning Board Public Hearings being re-scheduled.  It is important to both Chairman Reichle and I that members of the public have an opportunity to attend these public hearings.  Public safety is priority number one and we encourage everyone to utilize best practices related to the coronavirus outbreak.  We look forward to conducting our public hearings in the near future.”
