With the Village of Montgomery election around the corner, I have reflected on the issues that have been haunting us for some time. Namely, the truck traffic in the Village, the water and sewer shortfalls, and the Fentanyl creeping its way in. I see the slogans for “experienced leadership”, and I have to wonder what that means.

Sitting in a chair for years may provide some experience, however, said experience is useless if the issues are not resolved. I think it is time for fresh perspective. I think it is time to have a team of local government that works together to make the Village better. I think it is time for change.

I am no longer comfortable waiting for “experience” to translate into action and movement forward. I want and expect more from my leaders. I want a leader who puts the Village on a path for the future. I want a leader who is willing to plan and execute. I want a leader who will intelligently look at our present problems and work toward a solution. I want a leader who is willing to plan for the future. I want a leader who has demonstrated years of Community Service and a willingness to sacrifice her time for the greater good.

I will not vote for someone who is merely a trustee of the status quo. We deserve a leader who will put Montgomery first. We deserve a leader who will listen and act. That leader is Cynthia Nokland.
