Stonehenge announces barbeque restaurant expansion

The smell of chicken legs, baked beans, pulled pork, and other barbeque delights lingered at Stonehenge Farm last Friday during a ribbon ceremony hosted by its staff and the Pine Bush Chamber of Commerce, celebrating the store’s success and expansions.

Originally established in 1972 by the Bronner family, Stonehenge Farm became a staple market in the community for its fresh, locally sourced goodies, including produce, baked goods, and flowers. The store briefly closed in December of 2022 after the previous owner passed away, but it came back stronger than ever last September after the new owner, Andrew Justin, bought and renovated the property.

“My family’s been here since 1991. I’ve been living here since 2005 and shopping at Stonehenge ever since,” Justin said.

The ceremony featured free samples of Stonehenge’s upcoming addition: the Bullville Barbeque restaurant, where customers can order pre-made meals and takeout. This expansion was thanks in part to Crawford’s recent rezoning of Bullville’s business park district, allowing Stonehenge to offer more services to the community.

“It’s progressed more than it has in 13 years. We can do more now with the new zoning,” said Kate Loechner, manager of Stonehenge Farm.

Stonehenge isn’t stopping at just barbecue; the staff plans to expand the property’s three parcels and diversify its shelves with even more local goods. Justin asserted that Stonehenge will serve all residents’ needs, whether they’re stopping in for a few ingredients or need ready-made dinners for their families.

“We’re looking to expand, build up and work together with the community. This is one of the most overlooked intersections in New York,” Justin said. “We want more Hudson Valley products; could be honey to grass-fed beef, anything we’re trying to bring in. Even dog treats.”

Both staff members and residents share Justin’s excitement and look forward to Stonehenge’s future.
“I’m thrilled that it’s open. It’s been a staple in the community,” said Brenda Otto, a member of the Pine Bush Chamber of Commerce. “I’m glad they’re contributing to the community, and the community is supporting them back.”

“I did not know this place touched so many people until we retouched,” said Shawn Scandell, an employee at Stonehenge who helped Justin renovate the property.

“Just started working here, I love it, it’s great,” said Jared Lozupone, a new staff member who prepared the evening’s barbecue food.
